At Sevenoaks Dental & Implant Centre, porcelain veneers are one of our patients’ top choices for a total smile makeover. In only two office visits, patients can correct virtually any aesthetic concern, such as crooked, cracked, and chipped teeth, discolorations, and gaps.
Are veneers permanent?
Because a very small part of the tooth is etched away, porcelain veneers are considered a permanent treatment. Veneers can be removed if it is necessary, but the teeth will not look good until the veneers are replaced.
How long do dental veneers last?
Porcelain veneers are extremely durable and do not need to be replaced unless they are damaged. If they do crack or break for any reason, they can and will need to be replaced.
Will my veneers appear whiter than the rest of my teeth?
The dentists at Sevenoaks Dental & Implant Centre are highly experienced in all cosmetic work and will ensure that your veneers are completely customised to match the rest of your teeth.
Do veneers stain?
Porcelain veneers do not discolour over time and are incredibly stain resistant.
Will veneers make my teeth sensitive?
Getting porcelain veneers requires us to remove a thin layer of your enamel to make room for your veneers. After we remove the thin layer, it is possible that your teeth feel sensitive afterward. While you wait for your permanent veneers to return from the lab, you will wear a temporary set. This should help alleviate some of the tooth sensitivity. After we place your permanent pair, your sensitivity should go away. If it still lingers, you can use sensitivity toothpaste.
How do I know if I am suitable for dental veneers?
If you’re free of gum disease and cavities and have overall good oral health, you’re likely a good candidate for porcelain veneers. If you grind or clench your teeth, you will need to be strict about wearing a nightguard to protect your veneers from damage though.
What are the benefits of dental veneers?
Veneers help preserve tooth structure – Very little of the tooth structure needs to be removed when the teeth are prepared for veneers.
Veneers can dramatically change the appearance of your teeth – Veneers help to change the colour, shape, size, or length of your teeth.
Veneers closely match the natural colour of your teeth – once in place veneers should be indistinguishable from your other teeth and will be resistant to staining.
